Julian Alexander

Our close relatives just had their sweet baby boy, Julian Alexander (8lbs. 8oz. and 19 3/4 in long), a few days ago and we've already been blessed to go visit and hold him! Baby Blue LOVES babies so, of course, she wanted to hold him... and she did a great job! Aren't they sweet together! They're gonna be great 'cousins' (really, 2nd cousins, but that'll be hard to explain for awhile).

Make Travel Easy(er)!!

Here's a check list that I found online and re-worked a little (It was a blog out there in blogosphere somewhere... before I got into blogging, so I don't remember where it came from. If you are reading this and you made it, I really am enjoying this, thank you!) so that I don't have to do all the packing by myself! Baby Blue can't read yet, but she can understand pictures!! I'll just print and add in the space how many she needs of each item. Now I can have her look at the list and start gathering the items... I can just check and make sure it's the right thing and then into the suitcase it goes! No more packing all my stuff and all Baby Blue's by myself... she can help and it's fun for her. Can't wait to use it for our next trip!

I think it'd be a great idea to do this for the grocery store too... just draw pics of apples, bananas, milk, etc (or find clipart online, much easier than drawing for me) and make a list. Then the kids can help get the items they see on the list. Make your routine or mundane to-do's exciting!

Breakfast... Fun and Colorful?? Oh Yeah!

Well it seems that many in blog-land are jumping into the groove of using muffin tins for everything... so I thought I would too!! We made a yummy, fun, colorful... oh yeah, and healthy breakfast served in a muffin tin!!! Baby Blue LOVED it and so did I. It didn't really take any more time to make than breakfast normally would, but it definitely made it MUCH more interesting.

I just cut up strawberries, grapes, Cinnamon bread toast and put in the tin sections along with yogurt and peanut butter. She ate it all. She had so much fun dipping the fruit in the yogurt and peanut butter... ate it all up and then finished off the yogurt with her spoon. On days where I make eggs, I may do this again, and just add the eggs to a section. How easy is that!!! Your kids will love it... and maybe you will too, I sure did!

Mom... can you make me breakfast in a muffin tin??!??

Name that Kitty!

Well, we gave in to the daily request of Baby Blue to get a kitty or 'goggy' (doggy). We decided that a kitty would be much easier on us (the parents) since Baby Blue isn't big enough or old enough to really take care of a pet. We now have a cute, little (only 4 inches so far) baby kitten in our clan. Needless to say, we are having trouble coming up with a name that we love. We are into the different, but still easy-to-say names, and haven't totally agreed on one yet.
We had considered Skylar (the kitten is gray and we got her on a day with a gray overcast sky), also Sweet Pea (cute, I thought), and Seda
(or Seda Kocka for her long name, Czech for Gray Cat)...
Baby Blue needs to learn a name for her new kitty... ugh. Right now we just call her kitty... and a friend recommended Dolce. I really like that one as well. The meaning in Italian is sweet, mild and gentle... perfect name for a cat! We've had Aliyah try and say all the names and she says Seda and Dolce pretty well... so we're leaning towards Dolce.
What's funny is that when Aliyah wants to see her new pet, she says "Kitty Cat", and when we ask her the kitty's name she says 'Meow"... but we're trying to get her to say Dolce in reference to the cat. I'll keep you posted on the progress.

I Let My 22-month Old Paint My House!

Baby Blue, my 22 month-old daughter had a super fun, full of laughs, giggly, smiley, happy, messy time painting my house all the wonderful colorful shades of the rainbow! It first started out as six colors and as time went on the colors mixed and we she had a whole new palette to work with. She painted the glass doors, the sidewalk, my feet, daddy's fingers... you get the picture. Thankfully the paint washed off with a spray of the hose. Well, this super fun project is super easy, so I though I'd share it with all you moms, teachers, or anyone else who just likes to have some fun in the sun!
mixed equal parts cornstarch and water, poured into a muffin pan and then added food coloring to the different cups to make different colors. We took the pan outside with some small paintbrushes and let loose. It took baby blue a couple of minutes to realize that it was OK to paint wherever and whatever with this paint, but once she got the hang of it, she didn't want to stop! So, go make yourself a pretty little palette of color and let the imagination run wild!
