Why We're Living Out of a Suitcase

living room before
So... recently, very recently, we decided to do a bit of remodeling.  In fact, this is us ripping up flooring out of our living room, dining room and kitchen.  The reason the photo is so grainy... we were ripping up flooring at 10pm.  Yes, we're crazy like that.

before
Here are my good friends Rachel and Briony, that I dragged out of bed to come help me pull carpet staples out of the floor.  Our hands are still sore and I am forever in their debt, I'm confident they won't forget this favor.

Oh, and the tile flooring from the photo on the right, that's what our kitchen floor used to look like. I'm sure my great-grandmother would've loved that floor.  I couldn't be happier that it's gone.

Here is the progress after the first day.  Though sawdust covers every surface we have, I'm so excited to get home and see the finished product.

after
Much better.  Much, much better.  Now, if I can just get a Starbucks.

looks like the hardwood underneath the carpet is nice...did you end up keeping it or is that new hardwood being laid in the last photos?

  6. Isn't remodeling just so much fun? We have been in the process for almost three years now and I still don't see the light at the end of the tunnel.

The wood floors look like they are going to be beautiful; although, like your grandma - I love that honeycomb tile : ) I'm old fashioned like that; however, I don't know that I would want it in my kitchen.
