So... recently, very recently, we decided to do a bit of remodeling. In fact, this is us ripping up flooring out of our living room, dining room and kitchen. The reason the photo is so grainy... we were ripping up flooring at 10pm. Yes, we're crazy like that.

Here are my good friends Rachel and Briony, that I dragged out of bed to come help me pull carpet staples out of the floor. Our hands are still sore and I am forever in their debt, I'm confident they won't forget this favor.
Oh, and the tile flooring from the photo on the right, that's what our kitchen floor used to look like. I'm sure my great-grandmother would've loved that floor. I couldn't be happier that it's gone.

Here is the progress after the first day. Though sawdust covers every surface we have, I'm so excited to get home and see the finished product.

oh it's looking good!
ReplyDeletelooks like the hardwood underneath the carpet is nice...did you end up keeping it or is that new hardwood being laid in the last photos?
My sister just put hardwood down throughout her 1st floor. You'll either love it or hate it....Hope you love it.
ReplyDeleteooohhhh hardwood-NICE!!! We have hardwood throughout our first floor. It can be drafty, but large area rugs help. Would love to see more finished pictures :)
ReplyDeletei can't wait to see how it all came out :) and i am right there with ya in needing (or desperately wanting)

ReplyDeleteIsn't remodeling just so much fun? We have been in the process for almost three years now and I still don't see the light at the end of the tunnel.
ReplyDeleteThe wood floors look like they are going to be beautiful; although, like your grandma - I love that honeycomb tile : ) I'm old fashioned like that; however, I don't know that I would want it in my kitchen.
It looks amazing! Our downstairs is half-wood, half-carpet and I'm just itching to make the entire thing wood...
ReplyDeleteYou are way more industrious than I would ever be in the middle of the night!
ReplyDeleteRemodeling...it's an idea we're toying with....Lord help us.
