Today

Today I trade the greening wet grass in the view from my cozy window for the rain slicked cement playground that is New York City.

I trade my fluffy worn in big bed, filled nearly every morning with a pretzel of two sleepy littles' legs and arms, for the crisp white bedding made up daily by someone other than myself.

I trade the day-long hugs and cuddles snuck in between laundry, dishes and a never-ending To-Do list for the background noise of hustle and bustle, of car horns and buses and people going, and the serene calm that fills a room occupied by one.

So, today, I'm hugging a little tighter and kissing the sweet smelling heads of a couple of little innocents a bit more freely, lingering to imprint their scent deeply into my memory banks. I'm memorizing their morning faces, the crazed spun sugar atop their heads and the gratuitous sock dangling just so off of a chubby little baby foot... the way it does every sun-up. I'm basking in the snuggly mood emanating from my kids when they rise.

morning

And that will stay with me.  That I wouldn't trade for the world.

His scowl face and uh-oh face... just a couple more to add to the list.

  1. Have fun in NY! Before I knew it was his "scowl" face... It reminded me of the "smolderer" from Tangled, lol.

  7. Oh how those pictures bring back memories. Enjoy them while you can, they grow up way to quick! But, then if your lucky, you can see them all over again, when they have their own kids. It's really kind of neat.

Hope you and your family have a wonderful Easter. And stay safe while traveling.
