As we packed up the tree today–which usually lasts longer in our home, but we're loading up the family and heading on a road trip to Michigan in a few days!–both kids expressed the sentiment I was feeling. Mutterings of "Why is Christmas over?" and "The tree doesn't have all the pretty on it anymore, I'm sad," echoed through our halls.
But I'm winning the game, I'm pulling back on that rope with the full excitement of a fresh new year ahead. I'm weaving in the new slate of a cleaned up house, the anticipation of welcoming a sweet little baby in this coming year and closing my eyes to breathe in a new dream.
Take that post holiday blues, the new year wins.
And I hope that if you haven't taken a moment to dream big for this coming year, you choose to shoot for the stars, for the impossible... and then hope for more. It's an opportunity just waiting for our story.
Goodbye, 2012.
"We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year's Day." - Edith Lovejoy Pierce
